Remote Senior Director of Land Acquisition Job Opening in the Southwest

Residential Construction / Home Builder Career Opportunity

A leading regional, private homebuilder with operations in California, Colorado, Texas, and more coming throughout the southwest, is searching for a Senior Director of Land Acquisition to support their growing markets. Land acquisition, entitlement, and/or land asset management experience in residential construction or single-family-for-rent in a large market or region (Central or Southwest region preferred) are a requisite for this opportunity.

As Senior Director of Land Acquisition, you’ll support local land managers to continually monitor, search and identify new sites in locations designated to support aggressive growth plans in each market. Only candidates with land acquisition and asset management experience will be considered for this opportunity.

Note: This position entails weekly travel to the operating markets. A qualified candidate’s home base location can be anywhere that makes geographical sense for this role.

Remote Senior Director of Land Acquisition Responsibilities

  • Meet the company’s annual lot acquisition goals (300+ next year)
  • Identify specific lot acquisition opportunities that meet Company goals
  • Manage a team of acquisitions associates and analysts to underwrite lots and create pro formas on individual opportunities
  • Create and own pro formas, from initial lot acquisition through the delivery of home
  • Manage due diligence activities for potential acquisitions and processes after acquisition – title and escrow process from open to close
  • Oversee preparation and compilation of lot approval documents
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a primary function and must be able to work successfully in a team environment

Remote Senior Director of Land Acquisition Candidates Possess These Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in high-volume land acquisition and development is required
  • Experience with proptech for analyzing land opportunities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to design and negotiate deal structures that facilitate projects’ conformance with applicable underwriting hurdles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills while maintaining a focus on human relations
  • Experience with contract negotiation and terms agreement
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
