We’re seeking an Area Sales Manager / Business Development Manager in an established territory (you can be located anywhere between Destin and Tallahassee) for a market leader in the erosion control industry. Our client is the largest and most experienced erosion control contractor in the Southeast and offers various clients comprehensive erosion control, specialty materials, forestry, and other site clean-up/control services.

The successful candidate will have a “can-do” attitude, a strong work ethic, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for driving overall growth throughout the designated market.

They should be equally comfortable meeting with residential/commercial builders, construction site managers, project managers, estimators, and engineers while continuing to canvas for prospective business and providing the same level of support to existing clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of urgency, high energy, self-motivation, discipline, and client/customer focus and be ready to hit the ground running!

Area Sales Manager Responsibilities

  • Spearhead market expansion initiatives by employing strategic marketing techniques, proactive cold calling, and targeted prospecting in designated areas for our comprehensive erosion control and site compliance offerings. Simultaneously, ensure the effective daily management of current customer accounts.
  • Improve market share by identifying, crafting, negotiating, and finalizing key business deals. Foster and fortify enduring business relationships throughout this process.
  • Craft and implement sales objectives, detailed sales strategies, and set annual quotas for the designated territory. Direct all sales and marketing activities to meet or surpass these targets consistently.
  • Proactively identify and delve into forthcoming projects before they reach the contract award phase. Strategize to ensure a competitive stance and secure future assignments.
  • Foster customer loyalty by nurturing existing relationships and consistently seeking avenues to grow the client base. Create enduring connections with key clients and capitalize on opportunities to expand our customer portfolio.
  • Position yourself as a respected authority in the erosion control sector by continually updating your knowledge. Engage in continuous learning through reading, participation in professional workshops, group discussions, and by cultivating a robust personal network in the industry.

Area Sales Manager Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in direct sales within the landscaping, erosion control, or related construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated history of consistent annual growth, both through acquiring new accounts and nurturing growth within existing ones.
  • Strong enthusiasm for fostering client engagement and building lasting relationships.
  • Stellar interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • Self-driven and highly accountable for daily tasks and outcomes.
  • Expertise in utilizing CRM platforms.
  • Established connections in the Residential, Commercial, and Municipal construction services markets.
  • Affiliations with local Chamber of Commerce, Home Builders at local, state, and federal levels, and associations related to erosion control.
  • Experience in a sales leadership role, overseeing a sales team, is an added advantage.
  • Holding a certification in Erosion and Sediment Control will be considered favorably.
