We’re teaming up with a leading homebuilder with operations in Florida, seeking a Vice President of Finance to join their team. As the ideal candidate, you will be a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional with a background in accounting. You will report directly to the Division President and work closely with the executive team on financial strategy and operations.

The Vice President of Finance will oversee all financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. You will also manage the company’s financial relationships with lenders, investors, and key stakeholders. A CPA or MBA with residential construction experience and proficiency in JD Edwards accounting software or similar platforms is preferred.

Vice President of Finance Responsibilities

  • Ensure understanding and compliance with financial and accounting policies, internal control procedures, and practices.
  • Supervise the annual business planning and quarterly project budget update process to ensure high transparency and accuracy.
  • Analyze the viability and structure of potential deals and determine the direction of future projects and product positioning in collaboration with the division president and the land acquisition department.
  • Perform post-acquisition project reviews to identify trends or gaps and areas of improvement for future deals.
  • Analyze and present financial and non-financial submarket data to management as needed when reviewing existing communities or when considering new investments.
  • Provide analytical support to management to improve homebuilding operations and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing department to establish correct project-level pricing models.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Construction departments to determine optimum production levels in each community and map production direction within a community.
  • Review the division financial reporting package and associated local management schedules.
  • Serve as the local driver of process improvement efforts driven by standardized processes in all aspects of operations.
  • Coordinate back-office operations, including payroll and commissions, purchasing/architecture, construction coordination, and sales and escrow coordination.
  • Oversee the Division’s contract processing and closing function to ensure that all sales documents comply with local and corporate requirements.
  • Support and direction to the Corporate Accounting group in preparing division financial statements and disclosure.
  • Oversee internal control and other accounting/operational procedures within the Division.
  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, train, develop, and retain a productive and highly engaged department.
  • Develop a positive, teamwork, and achievement-oriented work culture for staff.
  • Model and reinforce actions consistent with the company’s values, vision, and culture in line with the core leadership competencies.

Vice President of Finance Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced finance professional to join our team as the Vice President of Finance. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with a proven track record of success in a similar role.
  • CPA or MBA with residential construction experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with JD Edwards accounting software (or a similar accounting platform) is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, is required.
