Purchasing Manager Job Opening in Charlotte, NC

Residential Construction / Homebuilding Career Opportunity

Our client is a privately held residential homebuilder entering the Charlotte market and establishing a new local division. The Division Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in building the purchasing function from the ground up, including trade relationships, buyout strategy, and purchasing processes that support disciplined, scalable growth.

This role partners closely with construction, operations, and leadership to ensure pricing, quality, and availability align with division objectives as the market presence is launched and expanded.

Division Purchasing Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute division-level purchasing and trade buyout strategies
  • Establish and manage relationships with local and national vendors and trade partners
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and scopes to secure favorable terms and consistent performance
  • Partner with construction and operations to ensure complete and accurate scopes of work
  • Track and report key purchasing metrics related to pricing, performance, and savings
  • Analyze pricing trends, market conditions, and supplier availability to inform decisions
  • Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and scenario evaluations as the division grows
  • Manage vendor risk, compliance, and performance standards
  • Coordinate material quantities and delivery timing to support construction schedules
  • Forecast demand to maintain appropriate inventory flow without overbuying

Division Purchasing Manager Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a Purchasing Manager, Purchasing Agent, or similar role within residential construction
  • Strong understanding of trade sourcing, vendor management, and buyout processes
  • Solid business judgment with the ability to evaluate market conditions and pricing trends
  • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to build long-term trade partnerships
  • Experience using construction or purchasing platforms such as Builder Lynx, MyHomebuilder, Procore, or similar systems
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret pricing, contracts, and performance data
  • Demonstrated leadership capability within a growing or evolving organization
  • Comfortable operating in a field-based, division office environment
  • Ability to support single-family residential and attached or higher-density product types, as applicable
