We are teaming with a fast-growing national homebuilder searching for an experienced professional with a strong background in accounting and finance to join their operating team as Director of Finance. We seek a candidate with Director, Controller, Assistant Controller, or VP level experience in the home building industry.
The position will report directly to the company’s Division President, and experience with a high-volume local or regional builder is preferred. Local and non-local candidates will be considered. Director of Finance Responsibilities
- Drives the annual business planning and quarterly forecast update processes, ensuring a high level of transparency and accuracy
- Provides a detailed variance analysis of budget vs. actual operating results monthly and identifies critical areas for operational improvement
- Prepares proforma financials and land acquisition packages for all potential land deals and ensures that each meets the Corporate and Division requirements
- Monitors and adjusts land development budgets and timelines to the ensure accuracy and reliability of cashflows and project costs
- Supports the improvement of home building operations by identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement
- Completes all monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements for both internal and external users
- Reviews backlog, sales, and production reports ensuring the accuracy of house budgets and construction schedules
- Supports all departments with analysis, special projects, and other duties as assigned
Director of Finance QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in with homebuilding experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in computer spreadsheets is essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary
- Functional and P&L management experience
- Experience working with or in the sales functions is a plus
