Position Filled

We are seeking an experienced Division Controller for a leading homebuilder in the Raleigh, NC market.  The position will report directly to the Division President and provide additional support for their Charlotte, NC market.  Experience with a high volume builder is preferred as the builder is ranked among the largest in their respective markets.  Local and non-local candidates will be considered.

DIVISION CONTROLLER OBJECTIVES:

  • To support the Division President in providing financial management expertise to the operating division as well as to the corporate financial organization
  • Ensure that accounting, control, audit and administrative duties are performed effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure that financial information is accurately developed, analyzed and reported to management
  • Ensure forecasts, project budgets and division budgets are prepared timely and accurately
  • Support Contract and Closing process including responsibility for contract review and closing documents for customer transactions as well as land purchases
  • Manage, motivate and develop Financial and Administrative staff
  • Ensure that corporate financial policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure that all corporate and operational reports are submitted accurately and timely
  • Assists in the management of information system issues and concerns
  • Provide financial assistance to all functional areas as needed
  • Responsible for accuracy of financial reports for assigned entities and subsidiaries

QUALIFICATIONS FOR DIVISION CONTROLLER:  

  • 2+ years prior public accounting experience
  • Familiarity or prior experience with production homebuilder and related software
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA, active CPA candidacy acceptable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Seven years experience in Finance/Accounting
  • Accounting experience, preferably in the homebuilding, land development and/or construction industry
  • Experience with finance and accounting systems and software
  • Knowledge of cost accounting (specifically construction industry)
  • Prior experience managing and training accounting/finance personnel
  • Computer literacy, including excellent Excel skills
